Okay, this may take a little explaining.
We didn’t want a dead tree that would have to be tossed out and recycled at the end of the season. But we didn’t want a live cedar, pine or fir either, because our plans for the landscaping don’t include any more of that type of evergreen.

Everything seems to have worked out fine, and I’m now blogging with WordPress 2.7. After a quick run-through the new interface, I’m impressed.
We have two sorts of squirrels in Vancouver, grey and black. I’ve seen plenty of both, but this is the first time I’ve seen them so close together.
I don’t now if it’s because the pickings are getting slim, but it was a nice gift from nature.
