I’m about 36 hours into what is obviously not a 24-hour bug, and while I don’t have a lot of energy for thinking, I do have the energy to sit back and be entertained by these websites:
- One Sentence. Subtitled “True stories, told in one sentence.” A collection of one sentence stories from the folk, some silly, some funny, some touching. Shows that you can do a lot with a few well-chosen words. Via Meranda on Twitter. (Link is to her blog).
- National Film Board. The NFB has a beta online service where you can watch documentaries, features, short films and animation. Some are only trailers or excerpts, but there is a wealth of Canadian film there. I just watched the 50-minute, 1968 The Best Damn Fiddler from Calabogie to Kaladar, which featured Margot Kidder n her first film role. Via Darren Barefoot, again on Twitter. And, again, the link goes to his blog.
- The muppets explain web video. Andy Dickinson passed this along and I’m glad he did. As he writes, you need to watch right to the end.
- Paper misspells its name on front page. A two-fer: it’s about journalism and it will make you laugh (and remember all the wince-worthy things that have happened during your career).
- Video presentations posted featuring Steve McCurry, Antonin Kratochvil and more. I haven’t watched any of these yet, but I plan to, starting with Steve McCurry and working my way through the list of photojournalists from there.
