This is too frustrating: I was following the headline, BCE shares pounded, from my newsreader, not because of any deep interest in finance but because I was curious was BCE stands for. I read through the Globe & Mail article, then clicked through four different links to related stories and still couldn’t find out. The acronym wasn’t expanded in any of them.
I finally had to Google BCE to find out it stands for Bell Canada Enterprises, Canada’s largest communications company, according to its website. I may be the only one in Canada that doesn’t know that but, still, I shouldn’t have to spend 10 minutes hunting down what could have been dealt with in a line of copy.
