From the net today:
- Publish2 Gets Funded. Good, and well-deserved, news for Scott Karp’s latest initiative.
- JEEcamp – three videos by the European Journalism Centre. Interesting short video reports from the European journalism unconference, including a nice interview with Paul Bradshaw. YouTube links from the page above are broken, try here (intro), here (interview with Paul) and here (interview with Brett Taylor).
- Mashing Up Feeds Using Yahoo Pipes. Sigh. One more thing I have to learn.
- [Video Tutorial] Final Cut: Tips/Tricks #1. Nice half-hour tutorial by Richard Koci Hernandez with some Final Cut Express tips. Go watch and learn.
- Our press councils in sad decline. A great, in-depth look at the state of Canada’s press councils and why they should matter much more than they do.
- Bronstein: The future of news, and other buzzwords. Some not-so-encouraging words from Phil Bronstein of Hearst Corp.
- Online ad ecosystem = wishful thinking. Follow the above up with Terry Heaton’s short piece.
- NPPA Best Multimedia Package. The winners of the multimedia package category in the Best of Photojournalism 2008.
- Take me to your leader. Tom Abate has an essay-length post on the need to bring conversation into the media mix. Nicely put and well worth the read.
- Top proposals 2008. The Knight Foundation has an linked list of the proposals that didn’t make the final cut for this year’s round of Knight News Challenge funding. There are some solid, solid ideas here, from some very smart people. Finalists will be announced mid-May.
