Getting on top of what’s in the feed reader:

  • The old crusty reporter is not appearing any more. A delightful video report on the demise of the reporter bars, although the brief report from London could have easily been edited out.
  • Pissy Poodles Can’t Be Angry Journalists. Tom Abate is angry about angryjournalists.com. This is a passionate post about doing journalism that those in the trenches, and those who will be going into the trenches, should read.
  • Wednesday’s Earnings Trifecta: Everyone Loses. What? You were expecting good news from a site called Newspaper Deathwatch? (Actually, there is a spot of good news from USA Today, but the numbers in the bad news are depressingly large.)
  • What next after videojournalism? David Dunkley Gyimah, in near stream-of-consciousness mode, makes some points and asks some questions about where we go from here now that everyone is doing it.
  • The AV Club. The short version of Colin Mulvany’s latest piece of from-the-newsroom wisdom: hire smart young folk and listen to them. Although, of course, the post is much deeper than that.
