Protests and rallies in support of the people of Burma are continuing in Vancouver. The latest, held Wednesday night, marked the 12 years that Ang San Suu Kyi has spent in detention in Burma. Twelve women stood on the steps of the Vancouver Art Gallery, their hands tied. Candles, laid out to spell out “Free Burma!” were lit. On a large canvas screen, a video played, combining music and news reports from the recent demonstrations in Rangoon and other cities in Burma.

The video was shot on a Canon HV20, hand-held or on a small tripod, using available light. Audio is from the scene. Capture, editing and encoding, using Final Cut Express, took about three hour. Somehow, I managed to “un-centre” the final text, something I hope to get time to fix later today.

I’ve now replaced the original with an updated version that fixes the mis-centred final text and extends a couple of scenes that were just a tad too short.

it is very sad to see despots around the world acting with impunity following the emasculation of Western democracies by the fiasco in Iraq.
