Only a few pointers this morning as I fight a cold and work on a longer piece which may or may not get done today.
- Journalism Dept. Chair Goes Against Dean; Loses Position. More from California State University, Long Beach, where the dean appears to be working toward killing the student print edition in favour of the ‘net.
- Roasting chestnuts: the journalist-blogger. Adrian Monck passes along some words by Chris Allbritton about the reality of blogging and journalism. The reason independent blogging may not make for good journalism, Allbritton says, is that doing journalism is expensive.
- Overall advertising $$$ slip in 2007, as online roars. Tom Abate passes along data on the flattening of overall advertising spending in the states which means all that money being spent on online ads isn’t new money, it’s mainly reallocated.
