Heading into yet another summer weekend:

  • Why print people need to get to grip with the shocking numbers at the heart of the online newspaper con. John Duncan has another post that takes a clear-eyed look at the reality of print and online. His financial estimates appear reasonable as he gets to a bottom-line argument that newspapers need to get heavily involved in innovation in print.
  • Butterflies Attack. Mark Hancock is having way too much fun as he explores the world of newspaper video-making.
  • Simpsons. Just for fun: one guy, two guitars, one TV theme song. Amazing.
  • Music hath no charms for hairdressers. Canada’s music police have set their sites on the latest target. Read the comments, too, for a good taste of the debate over music use and licensing.
  • Boot camp for VJs. Mindy MacAdams has gone to school and has some lessons to share with the rest of us on creating video journalism.
  • Digital Music – DIY Now! Because I love (a) music and (b) free stuff, I couldn’t resist downloading this free ebook on almost everything you need to know about creating and recording digital music. It’s also an interesting Sign o’ The Times: when plans to publish the book fell through, the authors set almost all of it free on the world.
