Web bits and pieces on media:

  • Why print news is (nearly) dead to me. Taylor Owen at Oxblog finds it wasteful and disses the idea of the myth of “incidental reading” as the sole preserve of the newspaper. So far, commentators are split on print vs. the web.
  • It was the first day of the spring soccer season. This will only take you a few seconds: an absolutely delightful photograph from Dennis Dunleavy from rainy Ashland, Oregon.
  • Papering Over Problems. One of the benefits of being behind in my reading, is I get to keep alive some essential reading on media. This Chris Nolan piece from late March, is one of those. Short version: As much as print may be in trouble, journalism isn’t.
  • Can you keep your smart young people? Another oldie (early April) but goodie with stats that suggests newspapers need a strong vision, willingness to chance and communicate well in order to keep young reporters.
