A lot of what’s being said on the media-web seems photojournalism related:

  • The Frame of the Game is…Communication. Sion Touhig on photography, video and frame grabs. A sample: “If you see the ultimate purpose of photojournalism as satisfying yourself as a photographer, then we’re gonna have to agree to disagree. It’s obviously part of the process, but self-satisfaction is not the aim, its a by-product.”
  • What’s “replacing” PJs?. Mark Hancock looks at AP-Now Public deal and wonders about the fate of photojournalists. He writes: ” I don’t approve of anyone giving content away for free. I’m happy to compete against cheap and inexperienced. Nobody can compete against free.”
  • Is “crowdsourcing” just cost-cutting 2.0? Mathew Ingram’s post is somewhat related to the above. The trend to discussing payment for cit-j continues.
  • Newspapers make more from online video than TV. Yikes. Who would have seen this coming a year ago? Terry Heaton has lots of details.
  • Wrong number, E.T.. Alan Mutter has some advice for the newspaper industry to save it from a wrong-headed advertising campaign.
