Battling a nasty bug of some kind, but still surfing, which has produced these notes of interest:

  • Copenhagen: saturation & waste. A brief report from Copenhagen on the number unread freesheets sitting around suggests two problems — market saturation and waste.
  • Newspaper, viewspaper, schmooze paper. Tom Abate points to the idea that the day of the 5Ws is passing and some Is are coming into the mix.
  • Old Newsrooms (1). Juan Antonio Giner follows up his still-growing posting of photos of newsroom from around the world, with some photos of what newsroom used to look like. The first three are from the ’30s and ’50s.
  • Will Mainstream Media Blogs Stamp Out Independents? Leonard Witt points to a post on blog readership trends and asks a question to give pause. Legacy media has to be hoping the answer is yes, and that it has brand on its side.
