I’ve spent the day being a techie, but there’s still been some time to track down items of interest from the media corners of the web:
Boston Globe to Close Foreign Bureaus. That’s one way to get local, although the recent spate of layoffs may have more to do with it. Via I Want Media.- BBC 2.0 Guidelines: Something for everyone. Andy Dickinson passes along 15 points that outline the BBC’s overarching approach to the new media age. Interesting points all.
- Responding to criticism etc.. Bobbie Johnson welcomes the conversation he started with his post Multimedia 101, but he’s getting a little pissed at a blogswarm that seems to have been invented merely to say “boo.”
- Web sites for citizen journalism techniques, tutorials. A nice list of some of the online training available for those who want to commit some journalism. Not complete, but there’s a lot there. Via Leonard Witt.
- Update 1: Media ethics codes… for a good night’s sleep, or a wake-up call?. Bob Stepno takes a look at one newspaper’s use of its web site to show journalism ethics in action.M
- Update 2: Shotgun or Rifle Approach to an Independent Media Site? L. Paul Mallich K. Paul Mallasch about going wide or deep. (Update: Note to self. Proofread, proofread, proofread. See comments for explanation.)

It’s K. (not L) and Mallasch (not Mallich), but thanks for the link. ;)
