Earlier this week I pointed to the International Herald Tribune and its Flickr photostream from Turin and wondered about clearing copyright for the images that were being served up alongside ads.
Here’s the scoop, provided by Rick Burns of Faneuil Media, which put together the Flickr feed for the IHT:
Hi Mark,
Thanks for the nice note. Sorry not to get back to you sooner.
To answer your question, we’re checking the rights for each photo we call, and excluding the appropriate ones.
When we first launched the package, we weren’t crediting the photos,
which was a mistake on our part. We’re now doing that. We’re still not
including the caption or title because there tends to be a lot of
garbage in those fields.Best,
