Recent web discoveries include:
- Razón. Oh, I’m going to be spending a lot of time with the stories produced by this collective of documentary photographers, discovered through A Photo A Day.
- National Post relaunches Monday edition. The Canadian national daily killed its Monday edition to save money over the summer. Does its return indicate some returning health on the Canadian dead-tree scene?
- Can newspaper publishers survive this revenue freefall? Perhaps, if they embrace a digital future. Yeah, we’re in a recession, but there are other realities behind the numbers, including the long-term decline in newspapers’ share of advertising revenue. Martin Langeveld provides the graphs and much more in a must-read post.
- Where the Nazis meet. I like two things about this recent John Robinson post: his explanation of why his newspaper withheld information, and the vigorous debate in the comments calling the newspaper for task. A great read.
- 50 Free Resources That Will Improve Your Photography Skills. My suggestion is bookmark this page, visit every so often and follow the links. Not specific to journalism, but a nice resource all the same.
- First Hint: Public Is Ready to Save Journalism. Some encouraging anecdotal evidence from Len Witt.
Note: Along with my occasional squibs and links in my Twitter feed, I also maintain a delicious.com account where I regularly aggregate links for my journalism students. Feel free to drop by.
