Just a few notes of interest. More later, maybe:

  • Ditch The Digital Itch: Drop Feed Readers Today. Nick Cernis argues that you’re better served with e-mail subscriptions than a feedreader. Hmmm.
  • What Will Replace Big-City Newspapers? Jon Fine, in Business Week, about where the money will go as newspapers fade. One of the possibilities that he misses are the mass-distribution, less-than-daily community newspapers.
  • TGIF 9/26/08. There are a number of interesting links in Paul Gillin’s regular Friday round-up at Newspaper Deathwatch, particularly the first one where the notes the success of the not-for-profit Politico.
  • College Media Matters. Another blog covering the college media scene, this one concentrating on breaking news. So far, an interesting round-up of items, ranging from profiles of college journalists, to First Amendment issues.
  • How a Task Force Built a Breaking News Force. This Poynter report on the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Breaking News Hub is fascinating and, potentially, a model for other newspapers. It’s a great concept that seems to have been put together intelligently.
