A third themed squib posting for the evening, this one rounding up some interesting web sites I have just become familiar with.
- Polymeme: A polymath’s guide to news. Fascinating site that aggregates internet buzz but ignores “the usual echo chambers of tech news, celebrity gossip or American politics.” It’s also customizable, by theme. Sample headlines: Turns out porn isn’t recession proof, The social revolution is our industrial revolution and The picture that shames Italy. I can see creating a customized RSS feed and making this one of the top resources in my news folder.
- journalism.me. The latest gift to the world from Kiyoshi Martinez (of Angry Journalist fame) is an aggregation of posts from dozens of journalism bloggers. Extensive blogroll, steady stream of posts from the best and the brightest (and some others, too). Great starting point for anyone who wants to tap into the conversation or discover new folks to follow.
- Reel Changes. Audience-funded documentary filmmaking. Watch excerpts, pledge support, get a screen credit. Tax deductions available, too (in the States).
- Snag Films. Watch documentary movies for free (Super Size Me is now playing), put “a movie theatre” on your own web page and share, donate “pixel, money or time” in support of independent documentary films. Current library has 225 films and the site reports that that’s growing. This item, and the one above, come from Joho, the Wonder Blogger (David Weinberger).
