One of the things I have in my feedreader is a TwitterLocal feed of tweets from Vancouver twitterers (okay, I absolutely hated writing the last part of this sentence: we really need a more eloquent language for this stuff.)
What’s interesting is how little of the chatter (almost none in fact) is related to, points to or even references local media.

simple answer methinks: local media ain’t that great, e.g. the S*n and the Pr*vince are a joke except for occasional brilliance same with The Straight
