Some stuff:
- Blog reading becomes a habit, study says. When I read the report on the study, I noticed how similar the description of how people feed their habit is to how people interact with newspapers. Except for all that commenting stuff, of course.
- An Editorial Opinion. Mark Potts wonders if the Pulitzer judges’s decision not to award a prize for editorial writing is a subliminal message that the time of the unsigned opinion piece is coming to an end.
- Better writers needed (and fewer editors). If Mindy McAdams is right (and she often is), those reporters who write well and accurately will be top of the hiring heap.
- ACES at a crossroads. Meanwhile, Doug Fisher finds a more upbeat mood at the annual gathering of copy editors.
- Investor: New model crucial for newspapers. Haven’t investors already caused enough havoc in the newspaper industry?
- Flexible screens – why am I so grumpy? Simon Waldman is taking a (shall we say) cautious approach to continuing news that e-paper is two years away.
