From the web so far today. There may be more later. Or not.
- Photojournalism From A Student’s Eye. Daniel Sato has done something cool: used Vuvox to create a nicely-done “about me” as the header for his blog. What a great way to get author information upfront.
- CBS to bloggers: Install our widgets, and we’ll split the profits. Collaborate and get paid. Neat.
- Make iMovie ’08 work your way. After reading the workarounds required to get iMovie 08 to do “the right thing,” I can’t help but wonder why anyone would want to jump through all these hoops when there are better alternatives available.
- Where’s the Innovation in Business Models? From Chris O’Brien, a Mercury News survivor: “I see tremendous energy going in to breaking new ground in gathering news, telling stories, and creating community. What I don’t see is an equivalent amount of innovation occurring around the business models that will support journalism going forward. What I tend to see, over and over, is people experimenting wildly on the content side, and then falling back on the same old business model: Selling ads. This model is dying.” Long, thoughtful post that’s well worth the time.
- What’s This Fascination with Ad Networks? (Or, the Online Media Business Will Be About Brands First, Technology Second). Still on the business front, John Battelle’s look at how advertising and marketing is unfolding (or not) has implications for newspapers, too.
- Sidelined at the Big Board. And one more from the business side: the first of two posts from Alan Mutter which will help us all understand the world of newspaper stock prices and what it all means.
