Only a few things in the reader so far today.
- What is the average start-up costs for a beginning PJ? Mark Hancock continues with his task of educating photojournalists, existing or up-and-coming. Spoiler: you’re looking at $20K, Mark says.
- Journalism At The Crossroads: Change Or Die. Scott Karp isn’t the first to say this, but in pulling together pieces from a number of sources, he perhaps says it most persuasively. This applies to j-students as well as working journalists.
- Interview with Melissa Lyttle. Melissa, as well as doing much of the heavy lifting at A Photo A Day, is also one helluva photojournalist. Here’s some audio from a recent radio interview.
- What we can learn from TV news shooters. A very nice post at the new-to-me blog Mastering Mutlimedia by Colin Mulvany, multimedia editor at The Spokesman-Review in Spokane, Washington. I’ve subscribed. Via News Videographer.
