A few from the weekend:

  • Ontario Court Rules Warman Defamed By Internet Postings. Another reminder that the virtual world really is real. Be careful out there.
  • Help for a stegosaurus who needs an update. Some tips for mid-career journalists on how to get their heads around all this new stuff. One thing that bothers me about this kind of advice: few suggest studying the best examples of new storytelling you can find and figuring out what makes them work in storytelling terms. The tech stuff is relatively easy: the ability to harness it for great journalism takes a lot more thought, analysis and hard work than most seem to suggest. Via The Canadian Journalism Project.
  • San Jose Mercury News photojournalist uses VuVox to tell photostory. Robert Scoble has produced a 35-minute video with Richard Hernandez, the innovative San Jose Merc multimedia guru, about his use of VuVox Collage, which looks simply amazing. I would really like to spend some time with this tool — it seems like it might be one of the next big steps to building impressive, indepth multimedia stories — buts it’s in private beta. There are some nice examples available, though, including the piece Richard is working on in the video.
