From a slightly less-active-than-usual blogosphere, thanks to all those Americans stuffing themselves with turkey and football:
- Best-fit mic. David Finnegan, over at Angela Grant’s News Videographer empire, has a nice look at mics for video production, which includes some good advice for those on a budget.
- Eleftheros Typos, the best-designed European National Newspaper of the year. I’ve loved the look of ET since its redesign was unveiled earlier this year. If I had a local newspaper that looked this good, I’d be tempted to start buying print again.
- Problems with journalism: key points for editors. A great piece by Mary Nesbit that digs deeper than the usual here’s-what-you-need-to-do article aimed at newspaper editors. There’s a lot to chew on here.
- Survey: News executives report that within 3 years 40% of content will be user generated. Okay, those surveyed were newspaper execs and you would expect that they’d favour small reporting staffs working with a community of (free) content providers.
- Does calling newspapers ‘newspapers’ make me sound like a stupid old fool? A fun post from William Hartnett, in which he asks for some help in finding a name for these new entities that doesn’t sound inelegant or awkward.
