CrunchGear has picked up on a rumour that the iPhone will be coming to Canada later this month.
Given what else the report includes, I’m not at all excited: a reported price of $799. That’s a whopping $400 more than the price in the U.S., at a time when the Canadian dollar is actually worth more than the battered U.S. buck.
Either the report is dead wrong or Apple and Rogers, the Canadian carrier, have decide their marketing strategy is to rip off Canadians. Sheesh.
To make matters worse, as one of the commenters in the original post claims the Canadian equivalent of the $60-a-month data access fee for iPhones in the States would be $550 in Canada. God, we need real competition and really innovative mobile phone providers in this country.
