Over the past couple of days, I’ve been diverting myself with Carl Hiaassen’s Basket Case, which has all of the elements that put him at the top of my guilty pleasures list: humour, action, really good writing and numerous jabs at the state of the newspaper business. On that front, Basket Case contains one of his best-ever: the name of the soulless, bottom-line-oriented chain that buys up the local daily is the deliciously unsubtle Maggad Feist. Too funny.
