Simon Waldman has posted the text of speech he recently gave in Berlin and it is something anyone interested in media, and particularly where newspapers are going, really, really needs to read.

The title, Web 2.0 – A threat or opportunity for newspapers, sets the tone, but his speech is about much more, taking off on the advances The Guardian has made, and why they matter in a new mediascape. I’m not going to attempt to give a overview or even find a “telling” quote because neither would do the piece much honour.

I think this is as close as anyone has recently come to giving a state-of-the-media report that covers many of the bases. I encourage you to go read.
