Here’s a frame grab from HD video I shot this weekend, produced as I continue my plunge into the deep end of video and newspapering. I exported the frame as a still from QuickTime Pro, then resized it in Photoshop. There are some minor problems with it (the kayakers are a little blown out and the edges of their paddles are not razor sharp), which means I need to play with this process a little more, but it’s clear that I can have my students quickly producing high-quality images for the web from video.
The shot, by the way, is of kayakers getting up-close with the base of Silver Falls on the western side of Indian Arm, near Vancouver.
