The latest salvo in the battle for control over the NFL:

NFL orders photogs to wear vests with Canon, Reebok logos

The football league seems to think that either newspapers will be forced by the coverage demands of their readers to cave, or newspapers don’t matter any more when it comes to promoting the brand.

The meaningful response from newspapers, if they truly believe in their statements of ethics and if they can’t convince the NFL to change this, would be to walk away from photographing NFL games.

Update: According to Mark Potts, newspapers should boycott the NFL until it comes to its senses.
