Bryan Murley at Innovation in College Media has a video clip up featuring Andrew Devigal, one of those smart folk who saw the potential for multimedia storytelling early and his been driving it every since.

Bryan rightfully draws attention to this quote:

For students who are reluctant to embrace multimedia, it sounds horrible to say, but there are going to be a lot of other students who are – who are going to be smart in the storytelling, who are comfortable with the technology.

While Andrew says “students,” I think you could easily replace that with “working journalists,” and the effect would be the same. As always, as journalists, we shall be known for our stories, but to think we’re all going to be known by the stories we have always done is shortsighted.
