A mixed bag of media-related items from the web:
- Update 1: Swedish Metro Newspaper Site Initiates Paid-Per-View Blogging System. Interesting report on the addition of bloggers to Metro newspaper site, paid on the basis of clicks. No doubt a new newsroom cliché is in the making: You’re only as good as your last post.
- Update 2: Videojournalism blow by blow. I will be watching this YouTube series as reporter Ben Hammersley files a series of behind-the-scenes videos on the reporting he’s doing on Turkey for the BBC.
- Newspapers at Mid-Year: Even Online, The News Is Not So Good. Rick Edmonds column at Poynter, in advance of the Mid-Year Media Review, isn’t likely to make too many feel good about the state of the industry.
- Video Editing 2.0: 8 Ways to Remix Online Videos. More online software for doing quick-and-easy video remix, annotation and the like. None are full-featured editors, of course, but some are great places to play.
- Storybridge.tv. A new, online only “TV channel” from a couple of veteran newsers who want to take the story telling further. Howard Owens is skeptical about the demand for longer-form video stories (I disagree), while Cory Bergman thinks the idea is terrific. It’s another strong example of the new media spaces that are emerging, all of which are in the great competition for attention.
- Mark Bowden On The Future Of Journalism Online. Scott Karp picks up on a much-pointed-to piece by Bowden and ponders the future of newspapers.

[...] But it’s not the only option: There are a lot of other free, online video editors out there. Link via Mark [...]
