Digital Photography Pro has a once-over-lightly look at the current reality for freelance photographers, Photojournalism Now, featuring some thoughts from Brian Storm, Ed Kashi and Dirck Halstead about where the art is headed.
Anyone following what’s happening with journalism as a whole won’t find much surprising in there, and while the article makes the point that the web has created a new paradigm for journalists of all kinds, the issue of making a living is lightly passed over.
Despite that, it’s worth a read, particularly if, like me, you are in the almost constant state of trying to figure out what this all means.
An aside: For some reason the article has been broken down into seven short chunks, which means you have to hit the next page button a bunch of times, and that there are some odd breaks in the flow. I don’t know about you, but I’d rather scroll than have to wait for page reloads.
