Here are some links to wide-ranging bits and pieces of journalism:
- National Post hatchet job on Gore. The job of reporting gets harder and harder, particularly when folks are ready to pass along the bits of the interview (essential the critics would say; nuance would be the reporters’ reply) that get left out.
- Journalists need to invest in their own careers. I’ve pointed to post similar to this one by Howard Owens in the past, and I’ll keep pointing to them, because it is such an important concept. It applies to j-school students, too: you need to invest in your own education.
- If the networks and the Pentagon hate it, ‘Hometown Baghdad’ is surely must-see TV. Since I first posted about Hometown Baghdad a couple of weeks ago, the series of two-minute video has gone big. CJR takes a look and puts its success up against recent moves by the U.S. military to stop soldier access to YouTube.
- Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. Photographer Kevin German combines video, photos (singly and flipbook style) and sounds to take a look at the California beach-side attraction. Via Multimedia Shooter.
- Newspapers, TV and the Net – Its Convergence Time. Mark Cuban ponders the idea of “The NY TImes 6pm News on CBS” in a world of even bigger media companies.
