Flash Video book coverI’m still plugging away at Final Cut Express lessons, but when the Hands-On Guide to Flash Video was dropped on my doorstep this morning, I couldn’t resist dipping into it. Glad I did. I’ve been reading it steadily on my breaks.

I’d been expecting a smallish, tech-heavy book full of encoding recipes. Instead, in the 80 pages I’ve read so far, I’ve read about optimizing sets, lighting and video shooting skills for eventual Flash encoding, and about correcting video and audio problems while editing. This isn’t a tech manual, it’s a whole freaking education. I’ve already got my money’s worth.

Even though I still have 250 or so pages left to go, I’m going to recommend this book right now to anyone interested in video storytelling and Flash video.
