I’ve been heavily into learning video this week, both editing and shooting, with a definite shape to my days.
To take care of the editing part of the learning, I get up in the morning and dive into the lessons in Tom Wolsky’s workshop guide to Final Cut Express. Read and do exercises until my head hurts.
To further learn the shooting bit, I’ve set myself a project: produce a video story about the small ferries that carry passengers back and forth across Vancouver’s False Creek. What that involves, mainly, is long walks along the water, hanging out at Granville Island and shooting video footage of the Aquabuses. Lunch, preferably on a patio in the sun, with a cold Hoegaarden or equivalent, is part of the deal.
See? Learning can be fun.
