The 2007 NPPA Photojournalism Summit is being held in Portland, Ore. in late May-early June and, based on the list of presenters, it’s like the Woodstock of visual journalism.
Among the speakers: Andrew deVigal, Seth Gitner, Dirck Halstead, Richard Koci Hernandez, Tom Kennedy, David Leeson, Regina McCombs, Brian Storm and Joe Weiss.
As that ends, Poynter’s National Writers Workshop begins, also in Portland, featuring another stellar list, which includes: Roy Peter Clark, Jack Hart, Lauren Kessler, Mark Kramer, Aly Colón, Naka Nathaniel and Jan Winburn.
What a collection of journalistic riches. What a gathering of talent. What an opportunity to learn.
And what a shame I can’t be at either, having already promised to attend a wedding in Grass Valley, California. Damn.
