Some fallout from yesterday’s first-quarter earning reports, and more, on the internet today. Updates are likely.
- Tribune to offer buyouts, hopes to eliminate 100 positions. It’s either buyouts or layoffs, the company says. Via Jim Romeneseko, as is the next item.
- News of NYT’s online revenue slowdown called “disturbing.” Is there no saviour anywhere?
- What a hiring editor looks for (or, what’s your URL?) Job-hunting tips from Mindy McAdams and yet another reminder that I really need to get some sessions on online portfolio development into my classrooms.
- Attacking and defending the VJ model. Steve Safran reports from NAB 2007 on the latest war of words over single shooters at TV news stations. Good overwiew of the issue.
- Virginia Tech and social media: some questions for newsrooms. A roundup of questions about the new mediascape and the interplay between the newsroom and what’s on the web. Interesting piece that could well serve as a launching pad for newsrooms struggling to set new policies; the comments are, in most cases, less than useful.
