From the ‘net, so far today (more later):
- Update 1: Web 2.0 Expo: Media Companies Confront Mortality. The latest change-or-die panel discussion for big media.
- Update 2: Survey: user-generated content biggest worry, opportunity for media companies. Survey says those content generators are making media sweat a little, experiment a lot.
- Part 2: The paperless paper. Part two of the Editors Weblog report on e-paper details some of the experiments now, or soon to be, under way.
- Risk Reduction, Outsourcing, and UGC. A somewhat less-than-enthusiastic look at what going hyperlocal means. Elucidates the dangers if hyperlocal is seen as the answer and not only a part of the mix.
- WSJ war reporters: We take risks, execs reap the rewards. At a shareholders meeting, journalists protest cuts in pay and benefits while managers make more.
- Canucks Outsider Live Videocast with ustream.tv on Saturday at 5p.m. Live streamed video commentary on the local hockey team’s playoff game from a couple of local “citizen colour guys,” including the ever-inventive Roland Tanglao, harnessing the power of the ‘net.
