David Akin delves into new mediascape ethical territory with a lengthy, but must-read, piece on being a political reporter and having Facebook “friends” that include the people he regularly covers.
One thing I like about it is how thoroughly David explores the issue. The other is the transparency: he’s carefully laid out the dimensions of the dilemma and his reasoning for both signing up for, and dropping some, group memberships.
Solid stuff and something my students will be reading.
A personal note: I’m really falling behind. Add Facebook to the lengthening list of services I haven’t signed up for, which also includes MySpace, Twitter and Second Life.
