		<description>It&#039;s my impression that the educators thinking over these problems often bring it back to media literacy, and it seems like a good idea, but the reason I decided to get into journalism in the first place was that I had become media literate, and I wasn&#039;t satisfied with the state of the media.

So once we have all these undergrads trained in media literacy -- let&#039;s boil that down for a second -- we&#039;re trying to install &#039;crap detectors&#039; in these students -- there we&#039;ll be with millions of potential consumers of media that will have higher standards and will accept less pablum and pacification in their news.

That&#039;s certainly something to work toward, although it&#039;s hard to imagine folks in the news business being too excited about it as a potential future...</description>
