Amani Channel has produced one of the best citizen journalism recruitment pitches I have ever seen.

Amani is recruiting stories from the people for a UR TV, a new show for the Black Family Channel, a cable channel in the U.S. What makes the ad so effective is the combination of his request, and titles that pop up during his video. Among them are cautions not to trust everything you read on the ‘net or see on TV, and the back-to-back messages: “Don’t let the media represent you” and “Represent yourself.” The screen shot above shows part of the message.

This is more than a recruitment: in a minute-and-a-half it manages to say a whole lot about citizen journalism and the possibilities for it. Go watch.
