Here’s what has caught my interest during a short bit of surfing this evening:
- Black and white tablet newspapers – forget it – full colour epaper possible in two years. Journalism.co.uk reports on the reports of the nearing of a new age.
- Study: Newsroom Spending Boosts Newspaper Profits. I haven’t had a chance to read the study yet, but that’s a headline to warm the cockles for an old newsguy. Via I Want Media.
- Radio stations scramble to post video online. Radio, apparently, is the last one into the pool on this and scrambling to catch up.
- When multimedia is worth doing. Mindy McAdams points to an OJR report on multimedia journalism and adds her own well-considered thoughts to the issue. We know how; it’s great to see the discussion on why and when becoming more mainstream.
- Why are online journalists asked to monetize everything they do? Ryan Sholin picks up on the question, which is a good one.
- Skrenta on the ‘failure’ of We Media. Simon Waldman comments on a “reality check” of citj, which includes a great (and true) line: “the future is always going to be more Bladerunner than The Jetsons.”
