Howard Owens has rounded up his thoughts on newspaper use of video and it’s a worthwhile read. The short form: do it.

Howard leaves no doubt where he stands about newspapers using video:

… if you are a lone reporter with no money but your own, and no other way of doing video, you should buy whatever you can afford and start producing your own video. If you can’t post it on your newspaper.com, post it on your own blog (you do have a blog, don’t you?) and start looking for a new job, because you’re working for a dying newspaper.

The post puts Howard firmly in the evangelist camp (probably with good reason). The points he makes are solid and should be driving discussion, but so much in the newsroom, but in the executive offices where decisions are made.
