I’m back from a week-and-a-bit of Hawaiian ambling (select photos at Flickr) and have traded aloha shirts for long johns. Back to the ‘net, while listening to a newly-discovered passion — Hawaiian music (particularly Kaumakaiwa Kanaka’ole and Amy Hanaiali’i). Found these so far:
- Sex blogger outed by a yellow journalist; plots revenge. Susan Mernit reports on a case of media at its bullying worst.
- Your newsroom New Year’s resolutions for 2007. Steve Safran at Lost remote has a list of eminently sensible steps newsrooms can take this year. Worth reading and memorizing.
- McClatchy buys local citizen journalism sites. Some newspapers are apparently getting it: local news and feature sites don’t just enhance what the newspaper is doing, they represent a potential threat to the franchise.
- BackFence CEO Resigns Amidst Downsizing. All is not whipped cream and cherries in the world of big players on the citj website front.
Note: This post may be updated as I get caught up with my online reading.
