Some interesting reading on media (linkage does not equal buy-in to the all the ideas; it’s the thought that counts):
- Why journalism matters. Mark Cuban with some thoughts on why journalism matters and what it needs. An enjoyable read.
- Disaster by Numbers. Jack Shafer disses the clichés of disaster coverage.
- Also, they have great teeth. Fine Young Journalist dissects a poll of young readers by the Canadian Newspaper Association and finds good news and bad. (This is from a week ago; I missed it during my travels.)
- A crisis is a terrible thing to waste. Steve Yelvington sees some good in the increasing crisis of faith in the future of newspapers.
- A call for broader journalistic curiosity. Bill Doskoch at Canadian Journalist defends investigative journalism.
