I’m catching up on some long unread Poynter columns, forum postings, etc. and discovering all sorts of goodness you may find of interest.
- Serious Times Call for Serious News. A study of what TV news viewers wants points to some “unconventional” wisdom, such as entertainment and crime bring less interesting to viewers than national and international news.
- To Capture Kids, Reconsider Definition of News. The headline made my shudder a little but the article makes a lot of sense, and provides some guidance for those obsessed with “capturing” the kids.
- Embracing Contradictions: Andrew Heyward on the Value of News. This is a couple of months old, but this interview with Heyward provides a good overview of the “jittery times” consuming media.
