Interesting news from Denver, via cyberjournalist.net, where the Denver Post has become the first American newspaper to add Spanish-language video clips (voiceovers of slideshows) at its web site. According to the report, Denver’s population is 35 per cent Hispanic.
Adding other languages would be a perfect fit for the Vancouver market, given the hugely multicultural nature of our city. The region has large Asian and South Asian communities, as well as significant numbers of Farsi speakers, Hispanic families and others.
Perfect fit, that is, if the web sites for Vancouver media actually offered any video clips in any language. Another opportunity to serve readers (and grow a newspaper-centred community) missed.
