Some late weekend reading:
- Conversation is NOT Enough. I’m paying a lot of attention to Scott Karp these days because what he’s writing makes so much sense. I think he misses the point about the “permanence” and ability to search, but other than that he’s pretty much spot on.
- New Metrics and Principles. Terry Heaton’s latest essay in his series TV in a Postmodern World, like the rest, is about much more than TV news. Highly recommended.
- Well, duh…. Andrew Cline’s promised post, on whether standard journalistic writing rots the brain. Great fun for word geeks, with some serious points being made along the way.
- Where Is Our Community? Rafat Ali at Paid Content with some musings about what constitutes the oft-cited “community” that builds around blogs and web sites.
- Florida Papers to Start Local Vodcast, Cable News. Leonard Witt points to an intriguing development ā Florida newspapers that are going to start a “vodcast” for use on their web site and for broadcast on local cable. The media reinvention continues.

Um excerto: I’m NOT saying that conversational media isn’t an innovation — it’s a HUGE leap forward from uni-directional Old Media. But “conversation” feels like half the process — there needs to be SYNTHESIS (…) Conversation is a process — but the most useful conversations also have a sense of progress and, in rare instances, a destination.
