Michael Geist does a thorough job of taking apart the latest arguments of the Canadian Recording Industry Association in favour of “stronger”copyright controls (read: government protection of a dying business model at the expense of Canadians’ rights).

The industry bases its argument on the sales of a Gwen Stefani song in Canada. Michael demolishes their “reasoning” easily and effectively.

Go read. Tell your friends and neighbours. As Canadians, we have to make sure that what our government hears, and does, is based on reality.
