At one of the last Northern Voice sessions of the day, on changing the world through blogs, Rob Cottingham found himself alone on stage when one of the scheduled presenters got stuck on the other side of the border and illness claimed two others.

When his attempts to hook up with Marnie Webb by Skype failed, someone in the audience suggested he try a cellphone with speakers.

“A cellphone with speakers,” he said. “Old-fashioned technology but it just might work.”

  2. Heh. You’re kind enough not to mention that at one point, I was actually suggesting that Marnie actually try text-messaging her comments to us.

    The guy who suggested the cell phone (and saved the day, I might add) was the always-amazing Phillip Djwa.
