Getting a (very) early start on the day’s internet reading.
- Is the romance gone from newspapers? A just plain depressing look at the value of newspapers.
- Hollywood Gives the Press a Bad Name. David Carr in the New York Times on what Hollywood hath wrought: the journalist as hapless villain. A fun read.
- All that is newspaper melts… Scott Rosenberg at Salon on the search for the new newspaper bundle. Via Dave Winer.
- Like vinyl record plants, newspapers face bleak future. Shortish, interesting Jonah Bloom column in AdAge (free registration required) that neatly encapsulates some of the possible changes newspapers face in covering news.
- Online Commons and the Reinvention of Journalism. A nice essay by David Bollier of On the Commons.org on the power and speed of distributed, citizen journalism. It works, he says, in part because it’s operating with trust that MSM no longer enjoys.
