satellite photo of my house

Everyone else has blogged this, so why not? Google’s new map service has added the ability to see a satellite image of any address you plug into the search box, provided the view from space is available. The picture above is where I live, which is why the address has been artfully blurred out. (Not that I suspect any of my Charlie Smith-trained students would have much trouble tracking down something as simple as an address.) To get the view from overhead, click on the satellite link at the top right of the Google maps page.

UPDATE: Matthew Haughey took a Google Maps satellite image over to Flick’r and added notes to create My childhood, seen by Google Maps, showing an interesting blend of new technologies and also pointing to another possibility for geography-based story-telling.
